Hai Lu currently serves as Managing Director, Investment Committee Member, and Head of the Healthcare Investment Center at China Life Private Equity Investment Co., Ltd. He oversees project screening and evaluation, investment decision-making, and post-investment risk management for the Phase II and Phase III healthcare funds, as well as the Silver Healthcare Fund. He has built the healthcare investment team, formulated investment strategies, and led the execution of dozens of major healthcare investment projects, including Yingke Biopharmaceutical and XtalPi. He also serves as a director of several portfolio companies, supporting their strategic upgrading and IPO planning.
Previously, Mr. Lu served as Managing Director at SDIC Fund Management Co., Ltd., where he focused on innovative drugs and medical devices. He made cumulative investments of nearly RMB 4 billion and helped several portfolio companies achieve listings on the STAR Market and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He also worked with local state-owned guidance funds to establish and launch investment funds.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Lu served as Chief Strategy Officer of Sihuan Pharmaceutical Holdings Group Ltd. and President of Huison Biotech, where he oversaw group-level strategic M&A and asset optimization. Before that, he gained experience in cross-border M&A at Stryker, domestic and international consulting at PwC, and the new drug R&D process at Bausch + Lomb and Abbott. He holds master’s and doctoral degrees in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Utah. His background spans pharmaceutical R&D, strategic consulting, cross-border M&A, private equity investment, and healthcare industry operations.
