Andy Peng Xiang
Peng Xiang is a Professor at Sun Yat-sen University, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and a Leading Talent in Scientific and Technological Innovation under the National Special Support Program for High-Level Talents. He currently serves as Director of the MOE Key Laboratory of Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering and Director of the International Joint Engineering Research Center for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine. He is also a member of the National Expert Committee for Stem Cell Clinical Research and Secretary-General of the Stem Cell Biology Branch of the Chinese Society for Cell Biology.
Professor Xiang has long been engaged in research on stem cells and regenerative medicine. He has led more than 20 major research projects at the national, provincial, and ministerial levels, including stem cell projects under the National Key R&D Program of China and key projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 100 SCI-indexed papers as corresponding author in leading journals such as Nature, Nature Cell Biology, and Journal of Hepatology. His research achievements were recognized among the “Major Advances in Chinese Medical Science” in 2019. He has been granted 13 Chinese invention patents and 6 international patents.
Professor Xiang led the development of the group standard for “Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells.” The human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell injection developed under his leadership has received five clinical trial approvals from the National Medical Products Administration. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the First Prize of the Guangdong Natural Science Award, the Ding Ying Science and Technology Award, the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, and the Outstanding Individual Award for Stem Cell Translational Achievements. He is a recognized leader in China’s stem cell research and translational medicine field.
