From July 22nd to 24th, the first China Pharma Innovation Conference (CPIC 2026), which benchmarked against the JPM conference, gathered speakers from 22 countries, and attracted over 10,000 participants, was successfully held at the "Four-leaf Clover" - National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). It achieved beyond expectations and received high praise from the industry.

Two weeks later, over fifty members of the Tongxieyi team traveled from all over the country to this coastal city in Shandong. They spent two and a half days summarizing activity experiences, enhancing organizational skills, and refining corporate culture.

The lingering warmth of CPIC 2026 has not yet dissipated, and a self-examination and fresh start centered around the theme of "Who else but me?" is taking place here.

01、Precipitation
From the four-leaf clover to the coast of the Yellow Sea

On August 11th, on the 28th floor of Qingdao Yinfeng Yuemei Hotel, people who had just experienced a tough battle gathered here for a debriefing meeting. Some were sunburned, while others' throats had not fully recovered, but everyone's eyes were shining with light.
"CPIC, who else but us? Great country, new drugs to new heights."

This slogan was chanted all the way from the CPIC conference in Shanghai to the seaside in Qingdao. More than 50 employees took turns to go on stage and give heartfelt reflections.
 

"We did it! We did it!" Cheng Zengjiang, the founder of Tongxieyi, recalled. At the event, upon hearing the feedback from the planning team, he could hardly contain his excitement.

65 sessions, 15 dinners/receptions, 900 speakers from 22 countries, 127 exhibitors, 13,000 attendees, and over 10 million exposures across the internet... Behind these numbers lies the exhaustive effort of everyone during the 100-day preparation period. The 33,000-square-meter venue, from being a blank canvas to being filled to the brim, relied on the tacit understanding of "growing together like bamboo shoots".

The business team initiated investment attraction without any complete schedule, because the schedule couldn't be finalized - without sufficient resources in place, content couldn't be written, and without content, investment couldn't be attracted.

Cheng Zengjiang described that period of adversity as "running until your legs are exhausted and talking until your mouth is sore." He visited almost every possible place, from securities firms to banks, from law firms to investment institutions.

But no one gave up. Every person who "took the responsibility" was someone who believed in the motto "If not me, who?".

"No matter what position you are in, whether it's a high-ranking or low-ranking position, as long as you can provide support, as long as you can provide support for our team and for this meeting, you are the right person for the job," Cheng Zengjiang said. "A person who can provide support is an indispensable person."

Chu Yujie, the executive vice president of Tongxieyi, conducted an overall review and summary, presenting the entire picture of the conference from the timeline to key nodes, and from resource integration to team collaboration.
 

Zhang Jiachun, General Manager of Tongxieyi, believes that the success of CPIC 2026 signifies that Tongxieyi now has a strategic support point for its development in the next ten to twenty years.
 

Cheng Siqi, President of Tongxieyi, also stated that the team accomplished an impossible task within an extremely tight timeframe. This kind of execution ability is inherently a core competitiveness, and this conference has truly given the company a sense of direction.

Those who believe in "if not me, who?"

At the end of the review session, the award presentation pushed the atmosphere to a climax.
Six categories of awards correspond to six attitudes of "who else but me?".

Tong Xieyi's Cheng Zengjiang and Chief Talent Development Officer Tu Yihua will present the "Pillar Award" to those who have been responsible for overall coordination and core problem-solving throughout the process. They are the load-bearing walls of CPIC's edifice, withstanding the greatest pressure and solving the most difficult problems.

The Breakthrough Award is presented to those who dare to break and innovate. In content, design, investment attraction, and communication, there are such game-changers in every sector, using innovation to break through.

The Rock Award is presented to those who provide a solid foundation and are dependable. They may not be the most dazzling, but without them, everything would fall apart.

The Master Star Award is presented to those who excel in every detail and work diligently. During the high-intensity meeting cycle, they consistently deliver stable output, working hard without complaint, and achieving flawless results.

The "People and Light Award" is presented to those who gather starlight and turn it into warmth. They silently contribute, actively step up to fill gaps, and earn recognition from their team through genuine altruism.

The New Rising Star Award is presented to those who are just emerging and striving for growth. The newcomers who have been employed for a short time have grown rapidly and taken the initiative to take on responsibilities at this conference.

As each name was read out, applause rang out repeatedly. These awards are not the end of honor, but the most concrete footnote to the phrase "Who else but me?".

03、Planning
"With a century of history, CPIC stands unrivaled."

On August 12th, all members wore purple cultural T-shirts for the conference. Purple is a color that evokes a sense of freehand brushwork and is also the color of CPIC.

In the morning, led by the heads of each functional module, cross-departmental issues and solutions were discussed one by one. Is the process not smooth? Change it. Is there a gap in collaboration? Fix it. Every problem raised corresponds to a written solution.

In the afternoon, Cheng Zengjiang outlined the future development direction and plan for Tongxieyi to all employees. CPIC 2026 is just a good start, with a shallow moat, too many loopholes to fill, and too many dreams to achieve. "We must quickly build absolute advantages, focus on anchoring the CPIC brand, and strive for improvement and breakthroughs."

Cheng Zengjiang proposed four strategic directions: internationalization, commercialization, digitalization and intelligentization, as well as humanization and artization.

Cheng Zengjiang also emphasized the importance of "not becoming old and outdated". He said that in this rapidly changing era, we must continue to learn, revitalize our organizations, and find joy in the process of learning. AI learning and application necessitate compulsory learning.

Finally, he repeated three sentences to the team: "There is always a force for growth, an impulse to strive for better, and a confidence in competition."

04、Sail
Faster, higher, stronger - more united

On the morning of August 13th, at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Sports Center.

The sea was vast and the wind was just right. The Tongxieyi team donned their little blue hats and entered the Olympic Sailing Museum. Various race collections and sailboat models awaited display, while the guide narrated the connection between sailing and Qingdao's marine Olympic culture - "Faster, Higher, Stronger - More United".

Isn't this a portrayal of CPIC's growth from scratch?

From the first announcement on March 15th to the opening of the conference on July 22nd, in just 100 days, a grand industry event spanning 33,000 square meters has emerged - faster. From a domestic industry conference to a global platform gathering 900 speakers from 22 countries - higher. From one person to a team of fifty working together - stronger and more united.

And CPIC's goal for 2027 is precisely "Faster, Higher, Stronger".

After leaving the museum, we boarded a boat and set sail. Each boat represents a team, and every position carries a responsibility - raising the sails, steering the boat, controlling the sails, and making turns. Some steer, some control the sails, and some keep watch. No one can slack off.

For every ship to reach its destination as quickly as possible, every position must be precisely coordinated. Just like sailing, one person cannot row a large ship alone. Only when everyone performs their respective duties and works together in the same direction can we brave the wind and waves.

After the yacht race ended, the champagne was uncorked, and cheers echoed across the sea.

From the four-leaf clover to the coast of the Yellow Sea, from the 33,000-square-meter exhibition hall to the sailing deck - Tongxieyi has completed a transformation from "we have achieved" to "we can do better". The Olympic spirit of "faster, higher, stronger - more united" aptly reflects the path the team has just traveled, and will also illuminate the next journey ahead.

Together, we build a technological path in life, and express the soul of new drugs globally

In 2014, Tongxieyi proposed the slogan "Together building a technological path, shaping the soul of China's new drugs." 12 years later, this slogan has been upgraded to "Shaping the soul of the world's new drugs."

From the small "Hutong Freehand" bar in Houhai, Beijing, to the 33,000-square-meter main venue at the National Convention and Exhibition Center, and then to the sea breeze and sail shadows of Qingdao, Tong Freehand has traveled a not-so-short journey.

CPIC 2026 is just a beginning. Cheng Zengjiang said that it will take about three years to truly establish CPIC's global influence.

The sea breeze in Qingdao is still blowing. The sail has entered the harbor, but the ship hasn't stopped. The next journey is already on the way.
