Dr. Zhang Dan Appointed Chief Scientist of PUMCH Innovation Harbor

On February 2, 2026, the launch ceremony of the PUMC Innovation Port of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College was held. Nearly 200 people attended the event, including relevant foreign envoys to China, officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Health Commission, and relevant departments of the Beijing Municipal Government, leaders of the Dongcheng District Committee and District Government, college and university leaders, academicians and expert representatives, heads of various institutes and hospitals, as well as representatives from medical institutions, universities, industry associations, central and municipal enterprises, and partner organizations.
During the ceremony, President Ji Xunming presented Dr. Zhang Dan, Academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering and Co-Chairman of Puxin Bio, with the certificate of appointment as Chief Scientist of the Innovation Port.
Ji Xunming introduced that the PUMC Innovation Port is designed to address the shortcomings in the transformation of the college's scientific and technological achievements. Supported by four research institutes — Future Science and Technology, Intelligent Medicine, Aging and Health, and Clinical Research — as the sources of original innovation, the Innovation Port aims to benchmark against world-class standards and build an international brand. It represents a key strategic move by the college to cultivate new productive forces through medical innovation. Leveraging the PUMC Innovation Port as a platform, the college will promote the translation and implementation of more original medical achievements and work with all sectors of society to protect the health of the people through science and technology.
